At the recent American Institute of Architects Convention, I attended a marketing seminar in which the presenter asked some questions to which I frankly had not given much thought. He noted that all successful businesses have certain things in common and that the most successful usually excel in one of three areas: Product, Process or People (read client or customer.) Interestingly, these businesses are not great at two or three of these but typically at just one.

Most architects, and I am certainly no exception, focus their promotional efforts on highlighting their designs. This site does just that. But when I think about just what it is that makes Jorge Engel & Associates different in the marketplace I come to the conclusion that it is not “Product.” We take great pride in the quality of our designs but that is not, upon closer scrutiny, our key focus. We also are efficient, cost effective and professional in all of our services but are not the cheapest or fastest. “Process” is also not our main difference.

What sets us apart, as unglamorous as it may sound, is how we deal with our clients. In over 21 years, the common response from our clients to working with us has been to marvel at our commitment, dedication, patience and willingness do whatever it takes to satisfy their needs. In residential projects, we work hand in hand with our clients from the first moment until they are happily ensconced in their dream home. Whether a remodel, an addition or a new house, it is always their dream home, not ours. No detail is too small to escape our attention and we always remain available, indefinitely, for anything that might come up.

Occasionally, our clients just call (as a recent client did last week) just to say:

Our philosophy is the same when working on commercial or institutional projects. Although the relationships and processes are often more complex, our dedication and commitment to fulfilling our client’s wishes and protecting their interests are never compromised.
